Aadhaar card number was launched in 2009. It is a 12 digit number,
generated after a person registers him/herself giving biometric information to
UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India).
After receiving aadhaar card number, you may find that some of
your details are missing or misspelled. In some cases, you may want to update
more information with your aadhaar card. Then what to do? You should not worry
at all. You can update and/or correct your details. There are two modes for that.
1. offline mode (only aadhaar card required) and,
2. online mode (aadhaar card as well as registered
mobile number is required)
1.
Offline
Mode:
For offline update, the
person have to fill in the form made for aadhaar card data update with
appropriate documents and post to the aadhaar card data centre. To download aadhaar
card update/correction form click here.
In this form you have to
fill in mandatory fields and the fields of information which require
update/correction. After filling them you have to join self-attested
photocopies of aadhaar card and other documents which require update/correction
and sent them to either of the addresses given below:
Address 1:
UIDAI, Post Box No. 10,
Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh - 480001, India
Address 2:
UIDAI, Post Box No. 99,
Banjara Hills, Hyderabad - 500034, India
2.
Online
Method:
To update or correct aadhaar card details
online, you have to go to Aadhaar self service update portal. There, you have
to enter your 12 digit aadhaar card number and captcha code and click on “Sent
OTP” button.
A six digit OTP PIN number valid only for 15 minute
will be sent to your registered mobile number. You have to enter it into the
form.
In the next step, you will be asked to select
the field(s) to update. There, you have to select/mark the information field
you want to update.
Then, a confirmation window will come up. You
have to select / mark “I confirm that….” and click on the “Modify” button.
You may be asked to upload appropriate self
attested document’s image for confirmation. After that a URN (Update Request Number)
will be generated. This number you should note down. You can use that number for
further query and update status check. After one week you can expect the
correction or update.
P.S. You must need offline mode, if you want to
register your mobile number. If you have mentioned your mobile number earlier
then it is ok. Otherwise you must use offline mode. If you provide wrong number
or it is mistyped by the aadhaar card operator, then you must use offline mode.
